Memory - such a fickle and small thing, influenced by the fragility of existence. It is imperfect, as all humans are, twisted by the passage of time and personal biases. It is not a neutral force, like perception. It is reality transformed, full to the brim with unbridled energy and potential... potential that humans too often waste, not built to pick up on or harvest a memory’s power.

And memory holds many powers. It holds power to transform, to change, to corrupt. It’s the driving force of all things in the universe. It begets love, death, survival. It created the means of advancement, of knowledge. It can, and has, lead to bitterness, war, destruction. It is as much a potential energy as any other object, only stronger because it’s infinite and ever expanding, building upon itself until it becomes overwhelming. Pain, suffering... trauma.

All of the universe holds memory, to an extent. Atoms vibrate in certain ways until they are deconstructed, then continue to vibrate even in their new form. Rocks and sediment remember history, thousands of years engraved into the patterns of their very existence. Flora remembers the passage of time, flowers blooming and dying yet always reblooming again. Everything is held together by memory, even if it holds no mind. The power of such a memory is limited, for it has no way to be shared but through entropy, losing parts of itself that can be absorbed by those attuned to its existence.

And in this universe, such creatures do exist -- Keepers.
